(Brawley Police will be setting up a DUI Checkpoint)...The Department says the checkpoint will be set-up at 6 pm Thursday.

It will remain open until mid-night. Poice will be checking vehicles, looking for impaired drivers. They are not disclosing the location. The Police Department says the location will be determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving related incidents. Motorists should be aware, impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over the counter medications may interfere with driving. While recreational use of marijuana is legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is not. First time DUI offenders face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
