The Imperial Irrigation District has updated information on repairs to storm damaged systems.

On Friday, September 1, a severe thunderstorm brought high winds, rain and flooding to the Imperial Valley. The heavy rains flooded the East Side Main Canal near Niland with runoff from the mountains that included water and silt. A 1/2 to1 mile section of the canal became clogged and overran the canal banks flooding the community of Niland. District crews worked through the weekend to clear the tons of desert silt and sediment and restore the East Side Man Canal to service. That task was expected to be accomplished by the end of Tuesday.

IID's Energy Department also toiled through the holiday weekend as District crews and contractors worked to restore power lines that were down and poles that had toppled. According to the IID, while some transmission and distribution poles and lines remain down, all distribution power outages from the storm have been resolved.
