(Man attempts to smuggle Methamphetamine across the border)....It happened late last week.

A 26 year old US Citizen was driving a pickup truck into the Calexico Downtown Port. During the initial inspection, the pick up was referred to the secondary inspection area. A non-intrusive inspection was utilized to inspect the entire vehicle. Irregularities were found throughout the vehicle. Customs and Border Protection officers extracted 200 packages from a spare tire, all four doors of the vehicle, the tailgate, the engine bay, center consoles and backseat area. The packages weighed over 235 pounds and tested positive for methamphetamine. The estimated value of the narcotics was over $235,300. The driver was detained and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations. CBP seized the vehicle and the narcotics.
