(El Centro has a new program)....It is to honor the city's past and current service members.

The City has unveiled it's Hometown Heroes Program. The city's local military service personnel will be honored with eye-catching banners displayed along Downtown El Centro. El Centro Mayor Martha Cardenas Singh says it is a tribute to their brave local men and woimen who proudly served our country and represent our community. She said serving our country is a family effort. The Mayor said this is one way we can honor our families and their proud veterans and service members. The banners will feature the service person's picture and branch of service. The initiative pays tribute to those who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. They will be displayed on light posts along Main Street between Fourth and Eighth Streets from November 1 through Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The cost for each banner is $175. The banner purchase deadline is August 24th, and only 30 spots are available. The application and all other information can be downloaded at the City of El Centro website, on the Economic development Division section.
