Due to extreme high temperatures expected to last through the week,

the Imperial Irrigation District has extended their Conserve Alert through Friday. IID is asking customers to remain cool while voluntarily conserving energy between 4 - 9 p.m. when demand is highest. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 110-to-120-degree range through Friday evening.

IID asks customers to do what they can to help the local electric grid yet stay cool. To conserve energy you should set your thermostats to 78 degrees, or higher. Avoid the use of major appliances between 4 - 9 p.m. Turn off unnecessary lights, keep blinds and drapes closed and use ceiling or floor fans when possible.
