(A Shipment of watermelons seized)....It happened last week in Calexico. A Tractor/Trailer rig entered the Cargo Port.

The driver presented a valid crossing card and a manifest declaring a load of watermelons. The Customs and Border Protection officer referred the rig to the loading dock for a more in-depth search. A CBP canine alerted to the shipments. The cargo was searched and officers found and removed 22 wrapped packages of cocaine. The packages weighed nearly 120 pounds, and were concealed within plastic pallets. The narcotics had an approximate value of $1.5 million, The 41-year-old driver was placed under arrest. He was turned over to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation. The CBP officers seized the cocaine and tractor/trailer rig.
