(The CBP says the scam continues to target citizens)....It is a national problem.
Customs and Border Protection says telephone scammers are continuing to target residents nationwide to gain personal information that would by-pass financial security protocols. CBP employees are continuing to receive numerous calls from people concerned about unsolicited calls from scammers posing as Border Patrol Agents and CBP Officers. The scammers claim to have intercepted a package of drugs.. The scammers demand more personal information to resolve the issue with the victims name on it. They say any time a shipment of drugs or money are mentioned, it is a scam. Be aware. There are variations of the scam. As soon as you suspect scam, hang up. Scams can be reported to the Federal Trade Commission online.
