Scammers are all around. Two El Centro residents reported being scammed in two separate incidents.

A man said that he had been hired to work remotely by a healthcare business. The man told police that he was sent three checks by the hiring agent so he could pay for materials provided by a third-party that he would need for the job. He was then notified by his bank that the checks were fraudulent, and he was out the money. The job was also bogus.

A woman reported that she had sent money for a rental she found on rental. dot com. She then found out that it was a scam. The woman made the payment through the Zelle app and now appears to be out over $1,300.
