Expect delays as Caltrans widens State Route 98 between Ollie Avenue and State Route 111 in Calexico.

The work is expected to begin Tuesday night, January 3, 2023, and continue through Fall of 2023. This is Stage 2 of the project to widen SR-98, Birch Street, to address border-related traffic, improve pedestrian safety, and accommodate the Calexico West Port of Entry Expansion project. In this phase, concrete barriers are in place to reduce eastbound and westbound traffic to one lane.

Stage 3 of the project will begin in the Spring of 2023; Stage 4 begins in the summer of 2023.

Stage 1 was completed in November 0f 2022.
