The City of Calexico has declared a Local State of Emergency.

The City has been dealing with the release of migrants and asylum seekers by the Department of Homeland Security. DHS has released several large groups of individuals and families in downtown Calexico since migrant shelters in the Valley have reached capacity. Imperial County and the City of Calexico have had to deal with the migrants with little or no guidance or assistance from the State of California or the federal government.
