(Brawley reorganizes Wednesday evening)....The special meeting was held at the City Council Chambers on Main Street.

George Nava was appointed Mayor of Brawley. Ramon Castro was named Mayor Pro-tem. Sam Couchman passed the gavel to Nava. The ceremony not only ended Couchman's tenure as Mayor, but also his tenure on the City Council. Couchman served several years on the City Council but decided not to seek re-election in November. During the special meeting newly elected Council members, Luke Hamby and Gil Rebollar took the oath of office.
