A 51-year-old Phoenix man died in an off-road accident in the Glamis area Sunday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol the man was driving a Can-Am X3 in the open desert of the Imperial San Dunes Recreation area when he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 48-year-old man who was a passenger in the UTV was not injured. According to the California Highway Patrol, both the driver and the passenger were wearing the proper safety equipment at the time of the crash. The Imperial County Coroner's Office and the CHP continue to investigate the crash.
