(Two caught trying to smuggle Methamphetamine and cocaine)…. They were arrested Wednesday at the Downtown Calexico Port of Entry.
Customs and Border Protection officers say the two were in Chevrolet Cobalt. They drove up to the inspection area at around 10:00 am. They were referred to the secondary area, where a detector dog alerted to the vehicle. CBP officers checked the undercarriage and discovered 47 wrapped packages hidden in a non-factory compartment. The packages turned out to be 11.7 pounds of meth and .04 ounces of cocaine. The estimated street value was set at $372,000. The occupants of the vehicle, 50-year-old Kevin Johnson and 52 year old Scott Johnson, both from Apache Junction, Arizona, were placed under arrest. Scott Johnson later admitted to investigators that he had been paid $500 to smuggle the drugs across the border. He also said Kevin Johnson was paid $300 to accompany him. Both were booked into County Jail charged with felony counts of importation of a controlled substance.
