(IID Board adopts Emergency Proclamations)….One for Imperial County and one for Riverside County.
The proclamations were for infrastructure damage suffered by the District during the series of storms that swept through the Imperial and Coachella Valleys August 22 through September 9th. In Imperial County, the storms knocked down transmission and distribution lines, 120 power poles, about 240 cross arms, affected four canal main systems, 17 lateral canals, three canal structures, 135 yards of concrete lining, 15 tile and tail water pipes, 38 drain ditches and four washes. In the Coachella Valley, the storms damaged approximately 25 transmission poles, 15 distribution poles, three transformers, 500 feet of cable, numerous conductors and a primary riser termination kit. The proclamations were approved Tuesday and will be sent to Sacramento, along with similar proclamations approved by the County and the City of Calexico. It is hoped the Governor will issue a state proclamation, freeing up emergency funds to help cover the costs of damages inflicted by the storms.
