(Better late than never)….The City of Calexico now has a budget for fiscal year 2013-2014.
The fiscal year began July 1st. City Manager Oscar Rodriguez said it was worth the wait. He said the spending plan was truly balanced. He attributed that6 to Measure H funds assisting to take some of the pressure off public safety issues. He said staff cuts, via attrition, also helped. The new budget gives the City a $16 million General Fund with a small $44,000 surplus. While most Council members were pleased with the plan, one did not like the process. Councilman Joong Kim voted against the Budget, have claimed the meeting was communist. He also said he needed more information on past budgets before he could make a decision.
