(IID soliciting conservation proposals)…The proposals are for the IID On-Farm Efficiency Conservation Pilot Program.
Earlier this month the Imperial Irrigation District Board extended the pilot program to run through August 2014. The program’s goal is to incentivize agricultural water customers to conserve 20,000 acre-feet in 2013 and 40,000 acre-feet in 2014 by implementing water use efficiency improvement projects of their farms. Participants will be paid $285 per acre-foot of delivered water reduction, verified against historical deliveries specific to each field and crop. The conserved water will go toward meeting IID’s scheduled water transfer and payback obligations. Program information and necessary documents will be mailed to customers. They are also available on the District’s website.
