(Tropical storm hits Imperial Valley)….The storm moved in Saturday.
It brought wind and a lot of rain. The official rainfall measurement was at the County Airport, with .026 inches of rain. However, it has been reported Salton City received up to 4 inches of rain, with 2 inches reported in El Centro. Large amounts of rain also fell in the Holtville area. The National Weather Service says a Flash Flood Watch is in effect into Monday night. Roads were flooded throughout the weekend, with Highway 86 being closed near the Border Patrol checkpoint and south near Calexico. The Highway has since been reopened. Areas of Highway 78 remain closed. Power outages were reported in Ocotillo Wells, Winterhaven, El Centro and several areas in Coachella Valley. The Imperial Irrigation District says most customers have had their power restored, and crews continue to work on the rest. Rain is expected to continue Tuesday, with a break Wednesday before another storm moves into the area.
