(Air unhealthy for some)….The 24-hour average of PM 2.5 reached unhealthy levels at 8:00 Monday morning.
The Air Pollution Control District says the Air Quality Index at the Calexico Ethel Street monitoring station reached a level of 118, for a condition of Unhealthy for Sensitive groups. The Sensitive Groups are those with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children, especially when physically active. The US EPA says those in the sensitive should reduce prolonged outdoor activity or stay in doors until Particulate Matter levels lower. Air Quality around the County Monday morning was reported as Moderate in Niland, with slightly elevated levels of PM 10. Air Quality has bee Good everywhere else.
