Bag full of Cell Phones tossed into prison

(Man throws a bag into the Calipatria State Prison)…two are arrested.

The man, later identified as Rogelio Marquez of Lancaster, California, tossed the bag over the fence and into the prison yard. He then turned and began running through a field. Imperial County Sheriff’s Deputies, Calipatria Police and members of the Calipatria State Prison Specialized Team converged on the field and took Marquez into custody. A woman was found in a vehicle nearby. Diana Castelo, also from Lancaster, was taken into custody as an accessory. Law Enforcement officers also found five grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The bag tossed into the prison contained 6 cell phones, which are illegal in the possession of inmates. Officials say bootlegged cell phones are very expensive inside the prison, selling for $500 to $1,200 each. The two were booked into the County Jail.
