Authorities are confident that they have recovered the body of an 18-year old Calexico teen who was reported missing in June.
According to Sgt Thomas Garcia , Supervising Deputy Coroner , a body was recovered from the All Ammerican Canal at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Sgt Garcia said that they are confident that the body is that of 18-year old Damian Plascencia of Calexico who disappeared while swimming in the canal June 10, 2013. Sgt Garcia said that his office would go through all the usual proceedures to verify the identity but that they feel confident that the body is that of the missing teen. The body was recovered this morning in the All American Canal near the New River crossing just west of Calexico. Plasencia was last seen at the All American near the Rockwood Canal. An extensive search was launched in the days after the incident with Imperial Irrigation District crews , the Imperial County Sheriff's Dive Team Calexico Police and Fire personnel and volunteers searching for the missing youth.
