(Imperial Irrigation District gets some help in mitigation talks)…It was announced this week at the IID Board meeting.
General Manager Kevin Kelley, in a prepared statement, told the Board meeting that he had engaged the services of two outside communications firms to assist with the Quantification Settlement Agreement litigation, and, more specifically, the Salton Sea restoration and mitigation initiative the Board had authorized. He said letters of engagement have been signed by him with APCO Worldwide in Sacramento and with Diversity Consulting Group out of Santa Barbara. Kelley said service agreements for both would be presented to the Board at the June 25th meeting. Kelley said the agreements are not open-ended, but are instead 6-month project based. The firms will be asked to help develop messaging that aligns with the Boards strategic direction and to fundamentally alter the status quo at the Salton Sea, something no court, in a decade of litigation surrounding the QSA, has been willing to do.
