(Local Air Pollution)…Air Quality has been Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. The Air Pollution Control District says Tuesday afternoon the 8-hour average of Ozone reached 104 on the Air Quality Index in El Centro. That translates to a condition of Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.
The sensitive groups are small children and those with respiratory illness. Early Wednesday morning the 24-hour average of PM 2.5 reached 116 on the Air Quality Index in Calexico. That is also a condition of Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. These groups include people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children. The US EPA cautions those in the sensitive groups to avoid prolonged outdoor activity and stay indoors as much as possible until the levels are reduced. At last report, the levels of Ozone had lowered to a condition of Good air quality. In Calexico the levels of the finite Particulate Matter had lowered to a condition of Moderate.
