(Warning issued by the C D P H)….The California Department of Public Health issued the warning
. They say consumers should not eat Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend of frozen berries sold through COSTCO stores. Health officials say they may be linked to a multi-state outbreak of Hepatitis A infections. To date, there have been at least 30 cases reported nationwide. There have been six confirmed cases in California, from people who have consumed the frozen berries. They were reported in Humboldt, Orange, Riverside, San Diego and two cases in San Bernardino. Three have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported. Doctor Ron Chapman, State Health Officer, says consumers who still have this product in their homes should discard it. Chapman says anyone who has consumed the berries named in the past 14 days should contact their Doctor to discuss possible Hepatitis A prevention and treatment options. For their part, COSTCO has reportedly removed the product from its stores and is notifying their member customers who have bought the product.
