General Fire officially out

(Julian Brush Fire is out)…The official declaration came Friday.

The fire was first reported May 26th. It burned 1,271 acres of brush in a remote section near Julian, before it was finally extinguished. Cal Fire says the fire was sparked by gunfire. Six Firefighters suffered minor injuries combating the General Fire. Crews were able to keep the blaze from populated areas. No structures were burned. The cost to put the fire out has not yet been determined. Officials say it was recreational gunfire that started the fire.
