Supervisors discuss Wraparound program

(Wraparound Program moving forward)…The Program has been years in the making.

The Wraparound Program is collaboration between the Social Services Department and the County Probation Department. The intent is to serve dependants and wards that fall under the jurisdiction of the Imperial County Juvenile Court and is intended as an alternative to expensive residential care. The Program is an alternative to sending children to residential care, and even bringing them back in to the community from a higher level of care. The services are a family-centered, community oriented, culturally sensitive and strength based. The ultimate goal is to keep children with their birth families, relative caretakers, or in foster families by providing intensive, comprehensive, integrated, creative intervention and support services. The Board of Supervisors put the final touch on implementation of the program by approving a $200 Cash account and a $1,000 checking account. The Program will be funded through State and County foster care placement dollars.
