(The Blue Angels’ 68th year performing)….They kick it off this Saturday.
The US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron kicks off their 2014 air show season the Blue Angels’ first air show of the season at the Naval Air Facility, El Centro. Gates open this Saturday at 9:00 am. The show starts at 10:00 am. The Blue Angels take to the air at around 2:30 in the afternoon. With an anticipated crowd of 35,000, the show is the largest single day event in Imperial County. Funding was cut last year shortly after the NAF air show. The Navy says the same pilots that were on the flight demonstration team last year are on this year’s team, as well. A full air show schedule has been approved this year. The Blue Angels expect to perform before 15 million spectators nationwide during the year. The goal of the flight demonstration team is to inspire young men and women not just to pursue a career in naval aviation or the military, but to aspire to excellence in all areas of their lives.
