(Supervisors approve agreement)….The agreement is with Seismic Warning Systems, Incorporated.
According to the agreement, an earthquake warning system and notification service will be installed. The system will provided a warning of up to a minute of an impending earthquake. County Fire Chief and Emergency Service Director Tony Rouhotas said the system would initially notify first responders in the Imperial County. He said eventually it would expand to ultimately include the general public. Rouhotas said there have been talks to connecting the system to the Emergency Alert System at KXO Radio. The $250,000 Hazardous Mitigation grant is being used to pay for the agreement. The Imperial County System will be connected to other systems outside of the county.
