County could lose more jobs

(More Imperial Valley Jobs could be in danger)….This after National Beef announced 1,300 people will be out of work when they shut the Brawley plant.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement is now considering moving or closing their detention services. That could cost Imperial Valley 500 more jobs. The ICE contract with its private security partner expires in June. Officials are saying the detention facility could close or even move to another area. Congressman Juan Vargas has requested a meeting with Homeland Security. In a release, Vargas said Imperial Valley should not be subjected to another unemployment hike. He said he would continue to fight for the creation of employment opportunities.
