(17 pounds of cocaine and over 26 pounds of meth seized)…It happened early Wednesday morning.
Border Patrol agents at the Highway 86 Checkpoint a mini van approached the checkpoint at 5:20 in the morning. It was being driven by a 24 year old Mexican Citizen, legal resident of the United States. A Border Patrol Canine team screened the vehicle. The dog alerted, and the vehicle was referred to the secondary inspection area. During the inspection agents discovered several wrapped packages of methamphetamine, weighing 26.45 pounds, worth an estimated $317,400. Further investigation resulted in the discovery of several wrapped packages of cocaine, weighing 17.91 pounds, worth an estimated $179,100. The suspect driver, the narcotics and the vehicle were all turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
