The Navy Blue Angels land Thursday afternoon

(The Blue Angels are back)…The Navies ace flight demonstration team arrived Thursday afternoon.

The FA-18 Hornets flew in from Pensacola, Florida as expected. The Blue Angels over 100-person support team had been at the Naval Air Facility, El Centro for a few days. The pilots for the 7 jets remain exactly the same as they were last year. The Blue Angels tour schedule was cut short last year because funding was taken away through sequestration. It was decided to keep the Top Gun pilots together for a full touring schedule. The team says they have a packed schedule for this year. The Blue Angels will train at NAF for 3 months. Their first show of the year will be the traditional air show at the local base on March 15. It will be the first time in a long time that the air show does not conflict with the final day of the California Mid Winter Fair and Fiesta. That is expected to increase the crowds at both events.
