(Municipal Water Rates returned to what they were)….The rates were increased in 2005.
The Imperial Irrigation District Board at that time cited a cost of service study, and increased the Municipal water rates from $20 per acre-foot to $68 per acre-foot. That Board also increased the Industrial water rates in an effort to balance the Budget. Tuesday Director Matt Dessert said that action created a wedge between the IID and the local communities. At their meeting this week The Directors agreed to return the Municipal Water Rates to $20 per acre-foot. At the same time, they challenged the Municipalities to pass the savings on to their ratepayers.
