(Strike called off)…Gold Cross Ambulance Service had threatened to strike.
It was to have begun Friday. That strike was called off after labor talks resumed. No comments are being released from either side of the negotiations. Details of the dispute are coming from sources who do not want to be identified. Union officials say paramedics could lose their jobs if management does not agree with their comments. According to sources, the union is seeking a one-dollar pay increase for the paramedics. Management has reportedly offered bonuses, but the union says the employees need pay increases. They say paramedic’s salaries were frozen the last two contracts. The increase would bring salaries to $10 per hour. Employees are also seeking improved health care benefits and better emergency vehicles.
