(Congressman protests lack of Immigration Reform)….Congressman Juan Vargas represents Imperial County and part of San Diego.
He recently joined activists in a protest in Washington D.C. Vargas went without food for an entire day. The activists are pushing for Immigration Reform that includes a pathway to citizenship for the millions of unauthorized immigrants currently in the United States. Their opponents want to bolster security at the borders, increase deportations and upping other forms of interior enforcement, before talking about citizenship. Vargas is the second congressman to participate in the fast. The first was Joe Kennedy of Massachusetts. Joe Garcia of Florida will be the next. All three are Democrats. Vargas said he hoped the fast would open the hearts of his colleagues on both sides of the aisle.
