Southwest students to question former President

(Southwest High School students have some homework)….What to ask former President Jimmy Carter.

Students of Haydee Rodriguez will be participating in a videoconference with the former President on Monday, December 2nd. The students have also been asked to learn about Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. Carter signed the Act into law during his Presidency in 1980. President Carter will be discussing the Act during the videoconference. The Act expanded the national park system in Alaska by over 43 million acres, creating 10 new national parks and increased the acreage of three existing parks. The Southwest students will be among students from just 7 schools selected to participate directly with the former President.
