County donates to Veteran's Monument Project

(County Board approves donation)….Tuesday the Board of Supervisors approved the request by Joaquin Villegas.

As his Eagle Scout Leadership Project, Villegas plans to construct a Veteran’s Memorial Monument. He is taking donations to pay for the construction. Tuesday the Board of Supervisors agreed to donate $5,000 to the Project. The County is also donating the use of the land, at the entrance of the County Airport, where the Monument will be constructed. District 3 Supervisor Mike Kelley also thanked the City of Imperial for Donating $10,000 and promising to maintain the Monument, once it is constructed. At last report, Villegas had over half of the $100,000 he estimates will be needed to construct the Veteran’s Monument. He is still taking donations from service clubs, cities and anybody else who would like to help. Villegas said Tuesday he was planning to break ground on the Project in January.
