El Centro has a new Fire Chief

(Kenneth Herbert has been pinned)….He is now officially the new Fire Chief for El Centro.

The pinning Ceremony was held at the new Station 3 Wednesday. The former Battalion Chief fills the vacancy left by Chief Chris Petree’s retirement almost ten months ago. El Centro Police Chief Jim McGinley had served in the interim as head of the El Centro Fire Department. Officially, McGinley served as the Public Safety Director. Herbert joined the El Centro Fire Department in 1990. He also worked for a short period with the Brawley Fire Department.  Herbert was introduced to the El Centro City Council as the new Fire Chief Tuesday. Since the City Council meeting was held on Boss’ Day, Herbert presented the City Manager and Police Chief with Fire Pins.
