Volunteers hit the streets

(Totals are being counted)….Organizers hope the tally exceeds $30,000.

The funds they are counting are donations from Red Shoe Day. From 7:00 am to 10:00 am over 200 volunteers manned intersections throughout Imperial County, asking for donations to help fund the Ronald McDonald House in San Diego. They were hoping to exceed the $30,000 raised last Red Shoe Day. Volunteers went all out this year. Some were dressed in costume. The IVROP group had Tigger with them. Another group had two people on stilts. Those who were not able to donate during the morning event, can still give, by going to a McDonalds restaurant in Imperial County or in Yuma. They are accepting one-dollar donations, in exchange for a paper Red Clown Shoe. The funds raised go to benefit Ronald McDonald House in San Diego. Ronald McDonald House provides accommodations to parents and families who have a child in a San Diego Hospital. The accommodations include a place to sleep, rest, eat and other amenities. More than 25% of those who used the Ronald McDonald House in San Diego last year were from the Imperial County.
