(Cattle Call Week got underway a bit different this year)....Normally the week leading to the annual Cattle Call Rodeo weekend begins with the chili Cook-Off. This year, the 50th anniversary of cattle Call, the week began with a Tribute to the 5 founders of the event.

El Centro - Police Arrest Violent Suspected Burglar

(A 22 year old suspect puts up a violent struggle before being arrested over the weekend)...Lt. Paul Longoria with the El Centro Police Department says the suspect put up such a fight he had to be tazed twice, and then additional officers brought in to bring him under control.

Imperial Valley Favorite Paul Rodriguez Stands Up in Yuma this Weekend

Comedian Paul Rodriguez is coming to Yuma, Arizona this Sunday evening and he will be presenting his show along with his special guests, Shayla Rivera, Gene Pompa and Luke Torres. Last year, El Centro designated January 22nd as "Paul Rodriguez Day" for Paul’s generous contributions to the youth of Imperial Valley.

AWC Basketball – Season Openers

The Arizona Western Matador men and women’s basketball team started their seasons with tournament victories. The men’s team beat non-conference rival Snow College 71-68 in the first round of the Salt Lake Tournament-Salt Lake City, Utah.
