( Police pursuit ends in damage to a home)….The chase began at around noon Tuesday in El Centro.
An El Centro Patrol officer initiated a traffic stop at 5th Street and Desert Gardens. Instead of stopping, however, the vehicle sped away. As the officer chased the vehicle north on 8th Street, one of the occupants was seen tossing a handgun out a window. The suspect vehicle then crashed into a house at 8th and Heil. The 3 occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene. Police contained the area and were able to find all three. They were placed under arrest and booked into County Jail. Taken into custody were 18 year old Manuel Juarez, 19 year old Jerome Jordan and 32 year old Joel Espinoza. Juarez was charged with evading police, resisting arrest, providing false information, reckless driving, fleeing the scene of an accident and driving without a license. Jordan was charged with a weapons violation and Espinoza was charged with resisting arrest. A nearby elementary school was locked down for about ten minutes while officers searched for the suspects.
