(The City of El Centro is reporting structural damage)....City officials say the recent seismic activity caused damage to a fourplex apartment building in El Centro.

The building suffered a waterline break when a water heater tipped over, which caused minor flooding. They say no injuries have been reported. They say no other damage or injuries have been reported in the City. A total of 11 residents were displaced from the apartment building. The City is urging residents to take proactive precautions with seismic activity. Drop, cover and hold on during earthquake activity. Dropping to your hands and knees protects you from being knocked down and allows to to crawl into a protected space. When the shaking stops, check your home or business for broken gas or water lines. If you suspect a broken gas line, call the gas company and stay outside until the gas company arrives and gives the all clear. Water line breaks should be reported to the public works department.
