Imperial County will be getting a 16-bed Adult Residential Substance Abuse Disorder Treatment Facility.

Imperial County Director of Behavior Health Services, Leticia Plancarte-Garcia, told the county Board of Supervisors that a grant of over $17,285,000 was awarded for the project. The grant funding will provide the county new opportunities to address gaps in care and create sustainable improvements to better serve local residents according to Plancarte-Gracia. Among the items to be funded is an Adult Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment Facility. The facility means that  county residents will no longer have to seek these services outside the Valley. A local residential facility will also address the needs of the unserved or underserved populations in Imperial County. The awards are delivered through the Department of Health Care Services Behavior Health Continuum Infrastructure Program Round 5. A total of $430 million in awards were made in 21 counties.
