A cargo van with a shipment manifested as porcelain sinks was found to have nearly 900,000 fentanyl pills concealed in the plumbing fixtures.

The van entered the Otay Mesa port of entry in June 26th at about 3:30 p.m. The driver presented a valid border crossing card and a shipping manifest listing the sinks. A CBP officer referred the driver and van to secondary inspection. The ports imaging system discovered anomalies in the sinks. A K-9 detection team alerted to the sinks and a further examination led to the discovery of 858,000 blue pills that tested positive for fentanyl. The total weight of the pills was nearly 190 pounds and have an estimated street value on nearly $2,600,000. Homeland Security Investigations have begun further processing of the incident.
