Immigrant rights bills go to the Governor

The State Legislature approves two Immigrant rights bills)….They were both authored by San Diego Assembly member Lorena Gonzalez.

AB 1024 allows unauthorized immigrants to practice law in the state, as long as they pass the state bar exam. The second bill, AB 1159, imposes standards on lawyers and consultants who work with immigrants seeking legal status as Congress debates the “pathway to citizenship” and other immigration reforms. Both of the Gonzalez bills were sent to the Governor for his signature on Thursday.
