(The Hidalgo Society is getting a Bell)…..Max Reyes says it is the perfect symbol for the club.
He says it will represent the club’s American and Mexican heritage. Reyes said he put the call out for the bell to represent what the club stands for, a call to action to the community, like the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and the bell of Miguel Hidalgo. The call was answered by Jose Maria Miramontes, a former Brawley resident, who now resides in the San Francisco Bay area. The Hidalgo Society will dedicate their new bell during the Mexican Independence Day celebrations on Sunday. Miramontes said he donated the bell in the name of his mother Antonia.
