(Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over)….That is the campaign for this Labor Day weekend.
Police, Sheriff and California Highway Patrol will be out in force this holiday weekend. They will all be taking part in the annual nationwide campaign, a crackdown on drunk driving. The crackdown will include high-visibility enforcement throughout Imperial County. It will run through September 2nd. El Centro Police Department Executive Commander Eddie Madueno says the Avoid the 8 DUI Task Force will be aggressively looking for drunk drivers during the crackdown and will arrest anyone caught driving drunk. He said plans in place include DUI/Drivers License Checkpoints, local DUI roving Saturation Patrols, a DUI Warrant/ Probation Sweep and a DUI Court Sting targeting suspended drivers who were ordered by a judge not to drive. The CHP will begin their Maximum Enforcement Period at 6:00 Friday evening.
