(Border Patrol agents find over 2 pounds of Heroin)….It was strapped to a woman’s body.
The seizure took place this week at the Highway 86 checkpoint. At around 4:00 pm a 20-year-old female, driving a purple 1998 Chevy Malibu, approached the checkpoint. The El Centro Sector agents directed her to the secondary inspection area. A k-9 team conducted a cursory inspection that resulted in an alert on the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Agents conducted a pat down on the woman and found four plastic packages duct taped to her upper abdomen. They also discovered a pair of shoes with hollowed out soles, a common method used by smugglers to conceal contraband. The heroin weighed around 2.36 pounds with an estimated street value of $75,000. The woman, a US citizen, was taken into custody. The suspects and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
