(CHP officer suffers minor injuries)…The incident is under investigation.
The preliminary investigation indicates the un-named officer was providing traffic control for a wide load vehicle at the 4th Street Interstate 8 on-ramp in El Centro Monday evening. The Highway Patrol says the emergency lights were flashing on the patrol unit. At around 5:45, a Toyota, driven by 32-year-old Julia Mason, turned on to the On-ramp, and rear-ended the CHP Patrol car. A Nissan pick-up, driven by 19-year-old Roman Ochoa of Calexico, was behind the Toyota. The Nissan rear-ended the Toyota. The Highway Patrol says Mason apparently did not see the flashing lights. Mason and Ochoa were not injured. The officer’s injuries were described as minor. The investigation is continuing.
