(Imperial County receives a state grant)…The funds will allow the County to participate in a new program.
It is the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program. Francisco Marquez, Director of the local Workforce Development Office, told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday that the $27,720 grant would pay to train all local drivers and mechanics of alternative fuel vehicles. Marquez said the state program was an on-going program and it is hoped this grant is the first of many to come. Marquez said his office, Public Works and County Fire Chief Tony Rouhotas all worked together to obtain the state grant.
