Mexican Ponche is a traditional Holiday Punch. Customs and Border Protection says be aware, ingredients to make ponche are not allowed to be brought into the United States through Commercial Ports of Entry. The prohibited ingredients are Guavas, Hawthorn Apples and Sugar Cane. The CBP says the ingredients are significant pest risks, especially Guavas that are hosts to exotic fruit flies. Fruit Flies are the most destructive pests of fruits and vegetables around the world. Those caught with the aforementioned ingredients will forfeit the items, and could face further penalties if the items are not declared.
