Manuel Paul Lopez at SDSU/IV Tuesday

(Award Poet guest speaker at SDSU/IV)….The public is encouraged to attend.

San Diego State University/Imperial Valley Campus says the community will have an opportunity to speak with multi-award winning poet Manuel Paul Lopez. The event will take place in the John Steppling Art Gallery at the Calexico Campus, on November 12 from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. Lopez is a native of El Centro and a former English teacher at Southwest High School. He will be reading some of his poetry and answering questions from the audience. Lopez has had two critically acclaimed books of poetry published, Death of a Mexican and Other Poems which won the Dorothy Brunsman Prize, and The Yearning Feed, his latest book, which won the 2013 Ernest Sanden Prize in Poetry. Much of Lopez’s poetry centers on the richness of border life and often features a border culture vernacular.
